About Minecraft | Vandegrift High School

Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks.  At first, people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, but as the game grew players worked together to create wonderful, imaginative things.  Every day, more and more teachers are using the world-building game Minecraft to engage and educate.

The STEM Workforce Council at Skillpoint Alliance is proud to host Minecraft “Sustainable Communities” as a summer camp at Vandegrift High School.  This Minecraft camp will challenge campers to design and build together in a single world, with a focus on the building a fully sustainable community. This flexible, cross-curicular educational program gives students an opportunity to do the things that engineers do – identify problems; brainstorm ideas; design solutions; test, retest and build; and share results. This process is called the engineering design process. With this at its center, Minecraft Camp is an engaging way to build student’s 21st century skills.

All required equipment will be provided at camp. Please note this is a four day camp ending on June 18.

Minecraft campers will:
